Gentle Winds is a collection of the experiments conducted for Dan Keen’s eventual Petrichor library. Recordings of an array of Saxophones and Recorders were made and combined with Fracture Sounds’ atmospheric sound design to form a library of ethereal woodwind textures, available for free!

About The Instrument
To form ideas for his latest library, Dan Keen set about recording a set of woodwind instruments in a dry space to get a sense of what the instruments could achieve and how that would translate into samples. The experiments were successful and eventually led to the “Wisp” articulation, which forms the cornerstone of Petrichor: Earthy Winds.
The team at Fracture Sounds have taken these samples and processed them into an ethereal Atmosphere Layer- which can be soloed on the interface. Add texture to your music now using Gentle Winds, available in the free Kontakt Player.
The Interface
Dynamics – Control the dynamic layers via the mod wheel/ CC1.
Motion – Add modulation separately to the recorders and saxophones, increasing the subtle dynamic movement between each instrument
Reverb – Control the overall volume of the built-in reverb. Click the settings cog for more controls.
Atmospheres Layers- Control the level of the Atmosphere Layer and press [S] to solo it
Attack and Release – Control the attack and release values of the notes.
Articulation – Switch between sustain or swell articulations. Swells work per note, so you can create undulating performances.
Dynamic Range – Control the volume difference between soft and loud dynamics.

Harnessing the power of Native Instruments’ Komplete Kontrol keyboards, you have full hands-on control of the instrument, using the built-in display and parameter controls on the keyboard. This also means that Blueprint: Gentle Winds is accessible to blind and visually impared musicians. Furthermore, Blueprint: Gentle Winds is compatible with the free Kontakt Player, with activation through Native Access, meaning you can use the library without purchasing any additional software. You can download Kontakt Player from the Native Instruments website.
