🎹 Avant-Gardist: Tonally Prepared Cinematic Piano
Not a piano. Not a prepared piano. A completely new cinematic instrument. 🎬✨
Avant-Gardist is a radically original, tonally prepared cinematic piano library designed for composers who want sounds that feel alive, intimate, unpredictable, and deeply expressive. This is not about pristine perfection — it is about character, texture, and emotion. Dark or warm, subtle or chaotic, organic yet cinematic — Avant-Gardist delivers a sonic identity that simply does not exist in conventional piano libraries.
🎶 Playable like a piano, but sounding like nothing you’ve heard before, Avant-Gardist opens the door to tonal articulations and musical gestures that are impossible for a single pianist to perform. Every note feels close, centered, raw, and “in-your-face,” making it a powerful tool for modern film scoring, trailers, thrillers, horror, experimental music, and intimate storytelling.
🌑 Why Avant-Gardist Sounds So Unique
Imagine multiple pianists, each assigned to a single string of a century-old upright piano — plucking, muting, rubbing, striking, and bending the sound using chains, horsehair, magnets, ebows, felt, metals, and even bare fingers and fingernails. Now imagine that each string is recorded individually with ultra-close stereo microphones.
🎧 The result?
Every note sounds extremely intimate, raw, and tonally focused, with natural pitch variations, subtle detuning, and beautiful imperfections — much like hand-tuned strings rather than a mechanical piano.
✔ Slightly out of tune (naturally and musically)
✔ Full of artifacts, noise, and character
✔ Organic, acoustic, and almost unprocessed
✔ Deeply cinematic and emotionally inspiring

🎹 The Piano & Recording Philosophy
At the heart of Avant-Gardist lies a 100-year-old Gustav Rösler upright piano — worn, imperfect, and gloriously alive. Originally meant to be repaired and tuned, it sounded so beautifully raw that it was left untouched.
💥 Mechanical noises were not removed — they were embraced and amplified.
Keys creak. Pedals squeak. Wood rubs. Strings breathe.
Some patches were recorded while intentionally adding:
• Excessive key pressure
• Soundboard movement
• Pedal squeaks
• String and wood friction
• Even close breathing
This led to the creation of playable NOISE & ASMR patches, making Avant-Gardist one of the most intimate and human-sounding libraries ever created.
🎤 All recordings were captured using Sennheiser MKH 8020 microphones, renowned for their ultra-low noise floor and extended frequency response up to 60kHz — perfect for capturing microscopic detail.
🌌 Avant-Gardist in One Sentence
Avant-Gardist is a bold, cinematic, tonally prepared piano that transforms imperfection into inspiration — raw, intimate, unpredictable, and unforgettable.
If you are searching for a truly unique cinematic piano library that feels human, experimental, and deeply emotional — Avant-Gardist is your new secret weapon. 🎹🔥
